Job Description

Ledgent Finance & Accounting is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our client's team in San Jose. This is a 3-6 month temporary (32 hours per week) position, with the possibility of temp to hire. This role is onsite and responsible for managing the organization's accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices, and maintaining compliance with internal policies and nonprofit financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and check requests accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Verify invoice coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain vendor records and respond to inquiries regarding payments and account status.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and assist with month-end closing.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records for audits and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and support financial operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of accounts payable or related accounting experience
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required).
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Education: High school diploma required; associate degree or higher in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Other: Must be able to work onsite in San Jose, CA.
